CASE: Veiligheidsregio Utrecht – ROV Capability demonstration

Demo's

At Veiligheidsregio Utrecht they use sonar on some of their boats to locate missing persons and objects. This way they are able to cover large area and save their divers for hotspot diving and areas where the boat is not able to navigate. These firemen are trained to understand and interpret sonar images provided by their Humminbird sonar system. Allowing them to map the lakebed and identify the object or person missing. As they are always trying to make the hazardous work they do more safer they are continuously looking to use technology to do so.

Subsea Fundamentals provided an ROV capability training for them. By operating in 2 well known environments with an ROV on loan we were able to demonstrate in what way an ROV could improve diver safety and perhaps at the same time create an accurate underwater map. This way the diver does not operate in the unknown anymore and this could improve the chance of a safe and successful diving operation.

Are you also looking to provide your personnel with the knowledge they need to operate a underwater vehicle system. Contact us and we can see what we can do to bring their knowledge to the highest level.

Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) are underwater robots that can be remotely controlled and used for tasks such as search, maintenance, and scientific research. They are equipped with sensors, cameras, and manipulators and are used in military operations and other governmental agencies like the fire dept. Equipped with sensors, cameras, and manipulators they can be of great added value shedding light on the underwater environment and making the subsea world a safer place for divers.

Navigator training

I recently had the opportunity to work with Ian Jeffery on a training in underwater navigation. His knowledge and expertise in the subject matter was evident from the start, and he was able to effectively tailor the training to the needs of my military customer. It was a pleasure working with Ian and I would highly recommend them for any training in underwater navigation.

Sonar training

From a selection of external instructors in the field of Sonar training specifically for our Water Accidents Teams (24-hour service Emmen & Voluntary Water Accidents team Assen), the choice fell on Ian Jeffery. This turned out to be a very good choice. The refresher/further training courses were unanimously assessed as 100% positive on content, but also on the human aspect. “A great instructor who thinks along”
